I'm just guessing of course, but it could be that the person who wrote this question sees similarities between "Hotel" and Ruta's book "Between Shades of Gray". It is the story of a young girl, Lina, and her family who are deported from Lithuania to a Siberian labor camp in 1941.

I haven't, but she's on my to-read list.
