Xona MAGNUS AND ALEC FROM SHADOWHUNTERS/(the mortal instruments books) I think you would really like their story..

Alexandra I recommend you try Hunter x Hunter !! I could easily oversell so I wont say too much except, equal but opposite is a huge theme and I think the two protags dynamic is something you'd really dig! when reading CP the first time I thought back to them a lot; just two extraordinary boys who find something special in each other :’)

Michelle I love that you mention Starbuck/Apollo feeling slightly gender-flipped - that's an unusual facet of their relationship, and one which helped make it more interesting to me too. Time for a rewatch!

Kate Toll I think you would like Ginn Hale´s books and the pairings in them

Luya R. You probably already read it, but Gideon the Ninth! It's just. Epic Lesbians who are extremely powerful in completely opposite ways and Nemesis each other to death. It's. So good? So great?

Dani You said: "Finally, I love it when both characters are equal-but-opposite, extraordinary in their different ways. I created Damen and Laurent from Captive Prince to fill my need for this type of dynamic. I think I'm still searching for a favourite story of this type, so if you have recommendations - please tell me!"

Oh, I so very much love this dynamic, too, and crave good stories about it. There is one wonderful author that writes this kind of dynamic so, so well. Have you read Astolat's Witcher and Transformers works? She writes exactly the kind of competence kink you are describing for example in "Misethere", which also happens to be one of my best loved examples of the "basic human decency vs. (traumatized) machiavellian survivalist manipulator" trope. So satisfying and fulfilling. " A Year in Touissant", "Blooded Crown" and " A War of Silver and Ash" are also wonderful variations of the same dynamic.
And her Transformer work "And I Alone Have Escaped to Tell You" is the ultimate equal-but-opposite story ever told. Highly recommended!
