Simone Shmueli Laila Majnoon, because they were not a fictional but Shakespeare got inspiration on them to write Romeo and Juliet. In many eastern cultures the name of the couple are written together, they do not use and, e.g. Radha Krishna, Sita Ram, Jodhaa Akbar, Bajirao Mastani.
Layla Majnoon have been translated into several languages, also have inspired countless poems, plays, movies, including an Eric Clapton song,

Gavin Smitsdorp I have a special place for the Blooms...and also for the protagonist in Portrait... Hope you like Don Delillo (unrelated.. we have similar tastes it seems). I notice you have a big following - unsurprising)

Ray Johns I'd have to say for favorite American fictional couples it would be Dashiell Hammett's sleuthing couple Nick and Nora Charles and their charming dog Asta

Catherine C. Interesting choices. Regarding the first couple, if memory serves me right, Leopold made tea and breakfast (something to do with the smelly kidney) for Molly when she was waking up in the morning. Therefore we saw them together before Leopold left the house.
