I also have the Paperwhite Kindle & it was really easy to read the notes by using the magnifying option. Not sure why everyone seems to think there's an issue here.
I think the early Kindle versions were formatted so that zoom did not work. Which is why the author put a text version of the notes on his blog. I suspect the issue was corrected in later Kindle updates. (Side note: You should periodically check your Kindle books via your Amazon account because updates are provided. I discovered this by accident -- no doubt it was in some fine print I never read.)
