You may show the Valdez as much loving support as you like, Pauline. You can buy 10 copies of each of her two books and 11 copies of her short story, you can donate to the Lisa Valdez foundation and maybe even leave her a gift in your will. Feel free to dispose of your money as you wish, as the subject neither concerns nor interests me. One of my GR friends, Karla, calls me a Valdez troll, and I plead guilty as charged. Rather pathetic that I did not pick a more worthy target. Anyway, there's a rather long line of pissed off readers who cannot understand why it is so difficult to finish three (forget the fourth) bleeding books in over ten years -it's not, after all, A la Recherche du Temps Perdu- but can put out announcements, market a woeful short story (wooing her tired readership by a dangling in front of them a supposedly coming-round-the-corner 'Primrose' some years ago), then, just as oblivion set in, up she pops with an announcement about making an announcement! And so on and so forth. I'm afraid had trolls not existed your girl would have invented them. Potential readers should be warned that there are only 2 books and a tsunami of hype without ever delivering the goods. Some newcomers, poor devils, get so excited they actually think 'Primrose' is about to materialise. Someone has to disappoint their fetching idealism. After drawing lots, the thankless task fell on nasty moi. Now, you sound like a most forgiving and kind soul and Lisa Valdez is very fortunate, indeed, to have your loyalty and your silver coin.

Well.... do you still like this author?? Just wondering since it is now 2024 and we are STILL waiting for the 3rd book to be published when she said it would be published in 2018. VERY frustrating! Just curious if your thoughts have changed?
