"move all the story arcs forward" is exactly my problem with this book, because it doesn't. Here's to hoping Dust does.
It’s one of those situations where, once the big secret is revealed, that sets the stage for the author to show a few cards and put some more pieces on the board. I suppose you could go straight from Wool to Dust, but you’re not going to understand who some of the new characters are - because they’re introduced in Shift. (There’s a cryosleep element.)
