I'm teaching this to my 8th grade class and have recently received a few complaints from parents - all of them seem focused on the chapter 'The Pill'. One student parroted his parent, using the word 'dirty' to describe it. I have to admit that narrow-mindedness is hard to get my head around and is incredibly frustrating. I'm in discussions with the school about next steps although its not looking particularly good. I think I'm going to have to end up withdrawing the book mid-semester. I also feel bad for the rest of the kids who are keen on continuing with it.
