i totally agree with you. Esi's pendant is never seen again after her chapter, and i think it's indicative of how slavery really stripped her lineage of knowing their background and their heritage, a stark opposite to Effia's family who we see pass the pendant down generation after generation, still connected to their home. I think that the fact that Esi's pendant was never recovered means that you really can't go back, that the trauma her family has been through leaves an irrevocable mark that cannot be erased, yet still Marcus and his descendants can find their way back to their heritage to connect with it through the pendant Marjorie gives him
