They don't have copy editors like they used to, often books these days are edited by a computer program, which is why almost every book I read that has been published in the last 15 years has numerous grammatical and spelling errors.
That's fundamentally wrong, books are never solely edited by computers. And people are just as likely to miss something and make a mistake as a computer.
Also. I highly suggest you read this. Before you make extreme (and definitely incorrect) generalizations.

I don’t mean copy editors don’t exist, I meant they just aren’t used as extensively as they used to be and editing is taken over, in part, by computers these days. I read the article you posted and it actually proved my point. Due to budget cuts or whatever books sometimes aren’t gone through as thoroughly as they used to be. That literary agent you posted said she does have her authors go through a rigorous process, but she also said a lot of others don’t do that.
I do agree with Aleesha, I’m sure Lauren was just making a sarcastic joke about Mae being her husband....possibly because they spent so much time together on set.
Possibly some low budget publishers are like that. But anywhere I've ever worked has an extensive editorial process where books go through at minimum two editors (and our writers send it pretty decent copy to begin with) before being approved. The only computer involvement is running a basic spelling and grammar check to get the easy things before a thorough reading is done. The article was in response to you saying nearly every book you've read has grammar and spelling errors, not to prove that every publisher has extensive editorial process. But there are plenty out there who do and I would say it's probably more a problem of the books chosen to read than anything. I don't find many grammar or spelling errors in books I read. A few punctuation errors here and there but rarely anything that disrupts my reading and enjoyment of a book. What books are you reading that have so many errors?
