K3 Thanks! After reading this answer it helped me a lot. I thought about what you said and though I should tell you where your efforts led me: I'm switching between three narratives, two of which are more "screwed over" than maybe the third. Since you mentioned the man who assassinated Archduke ferdinand (here known as the ArchFalcon) he is the first, and his story is more fast-paced. Second is Desmond Doss (recently the subject of the movie Hacksaw Ridge) and his experience in the war without a weapon or magic. Hsi will be a slower narrative, despite taking place on the frontlines. The third is Lawrence of arabia himself, who is not as entirely screwed over as you suggested but whom, in the story, has to deal against all of his family and ends up facing his sister's troops. His, as I'm outlining right now, is a lot of tense stealth moments that are proving to be my favorite to write.
All of the character's names are changed of course, and the locations have a little more spice and magic to them. Thank you so much for your advice!

K3 To clarify, "slower" I mean that the action would be slower. The story's pace will change, yes, but mostly it will just shift to his deeper narrative.
also I'll never properly write if I can't even spell correctly

double posting away!
