Greg Sara, I think you have a real find on your hands! Absolutely worth the investment! I can't believe a bookseller would ever even put it out for sale!

I wonder at this kind of enlightenment that causes the word "nigger" to be considered offensive, while redneck is liberally used...

Caitlin Probably because while it has negative connotations against poor ignorant white people, poor ignorant white people weren't enslaved for hundreds of years and systematically stripped of basic human rights because they were white.

So, Caitlin, do you think that because a people have been enslaved--over a hundred years ago and freed by a bunch of whites--they must find offense on a name which they actually use among themselves? As for "poor ignorant white people" never being "enslaved for hundreds of years," I will direct you to this interesting article from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serfdom. Although I do not consider Wiki an historical source, the information will open your mind to the fact that not only blacks were enslaved.

Sarah Monty Because 'redneck' isn't a threat. There's no history of white people being lynched for being white. https://www.naacp.org/history-of-lync...

So, the fact that Blacks are not being lynched today, makes no difference to you. Way to go!

Sarah Monty I think we've BOTH revealed a lot about our worldviews here.

And THAT is something I won't dispute.
