Explains a lot. I had no idea whatsoever about this. Great information!
Still think that it should be labeled as in the original language.
If it is in fact number 4 in the series it should be named #4. I think that foreign readers understand that the rest is not translated (yet) if they do not find them on any resellers sites.
All goes back to the publishers thinking that the readers are to stupid to understand that this is #4 and that #1-3 is not translated yet! BUT it's still #4 in the series!
It adress another problem in the area of translation; Robert Jordans "Wheel of Time" where translated into Swedish, but every book was splitted in two. Undestandable but with confusion! Every bock get a different names, instead of just calling them by the original name #1 and #2. It's so simple, but the publisher are so very stupid that they do not regocnize this problem.
So when I have a series of books in Swedish with a hole I want to fill it is completely impossible to find out wich book I have to buy in English, they have different names and different numbers.... So I have to read the backtext to know where I am in the storie... As a matter of fact I've bought several books in duplicate just because of this!
Names and numbers in series should be worlwide!!!!
