Dreams Underfoot brought Jilly into my life, which makes it my favorite book from you. What a woman of wonder, curiosity and delight! She reminds me to be passionate about my art. So...thanks for the best female protagonist!
Thanks for your support, Alexandra. If you've been reading me for a while you've probably realized that she's prretty much my favourite character, too. One of the things that makes her special is that I didn't "develop" her. She was one of those gifts you get from time to time if you put in the time working. I can still remember typing her name in the first draft of "Uncle Dobbin's Parrot Fair" (where she was mentioned pretty much as an aside) and I immediately knew all the broad strokes of her life. The fun has been in filling in the details since then. Good luck with your own art.
Though Jilly has always been a favorite Pukwudji was the one that hooked me on your works. I have to say he is still my most loved character you have introduced me to.
