Sarah I don't think the situations are particularly comparable - Dumbledore's reveal occurred after the series was over and the character dead so no more could be done with him. The other was a teaser for an in-progress series, which has now delivered on its promise. A Gathering of Shadows should satisfy any requirement for in-text representation. Rhy's lack of any romantic encounters in ADSOM doesn't negate his bisexuality.

chris The question was asked about "this book," not the overall series. So anything that happens in the sequel is irrelevant to this particular question. The person who asked it may not like the story enough to continue reading the second book.

Sarah We'll have to agree to disagree, then. I tend to consider book series as a whole rather than per-book, so my perspective is a little different, that's all. I can certainly see where you're coming from if you take ADSOM by itself.

Matthew Martin It was obvious to me in the first book without having any outside information. It was implied at least once that the relationships of the characters past were both male and female. It was a subtle implication though, nothing that hit you in the face. It was just part of who the character was...not a focal point of the story.
