I read about 100 books a year. I'm also a Grandmother so I've been around long enough to know lots of tragic things do indeed happen in reality. I only DNF maybe one or two books a year, this being one of them. Just because things happen doesn't mean folks need to read something if they find it offensive , degrading, and especially ultra depressing.
I don't think Oprah got it wrong with the endorsement of this book. I think it's high time someone wrote about these things. Historically they have been hidden for too long and pretended they never happened.
