I agree with you on this point. I really didn't pick this up until I re read It. Bev is supposed to be smart and strong but comes across just the opposite. I started thinking about Mr. Kings other books and this does seem to be the case.
Oh dear God I totally agree, and it's so disappointing, like he really could have been the opposite cuz he writes a lot about class, racism and how vulnerable individs och minor groups are targeted and used. It's like even if a male author has this kind of insights he still can't seem to see a woman as just a human being. It really sucks cuz I really like King. I just wish he could stop constantly focusing on female characters beauty or lack thereof, and lose the constant sexualization too.
This bothered me SO MUCH throughout the whole read. I loved the story but couldn't bring myself to give it 5 stars because this is just too absurd and I wasn't okay with it.
YESSSS as I was reading I kept thinking, how many more unnecessary references to "breasts" are we going to get? Can this man not write a single scene including a woman without mentioning their boobs??
