Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ Thanks so much for responding quickly, David. I should clarify my question: I'm aware of the young ages of midshipmen; my question goes to whether (view spoiler), especially with him being an officer, however junior. Does that make sense? I was having a little trouble with that ringing true to me.

David Levine You know... that's a legitimate question! I don't think I ever really considered that, despite him being an officer, the men might not be willing to follow a young boy quite that far. If someone had raised this point before publication I might have put in a few sentences to address the issue. Perhaps his family had money.

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ That would be pertinent! Thanks again.
