I wouldn't compare old moses with Rasputin, he was more of a follower than a manipulative liar.
Old Major was intended to be Vladimir Lenin, Moses intended to be the Russian Orthodox Church, and the cat seems to represent the educated upper class.
Squealer was my favorite character in this story . Was he actually squealing on the enemy or stiring up discontent for Snowball ?
