Pretty sure the "then it turned black" was to do with the fact that the sun just went down. Maybe Ian's alive, or maybe it's just Jenna's imagination, but I'm pretty sure she was alive at the end of the book.
I agree, Primrose. The sun went down and it was her fearful imagination. Unless...was it "black" because she was plunging down the cliff after being pushed by Ian? OOOH....(spooky music ♪♪♪)
