Kristina Giovanni You are right, Carolyn's story is complete, and that's what I love about your novel. It doesn't get sidetracked trying to tell everyone else's story.

Kristina Giovanni Take Stephen King's Dark Tower series. It was never conceived of as a series until fans began asking for more. The Gunslinger, on its own, will hopefully be regarded by future generations of literary critics not yet born, to be one of the best speculative fiction novels of the later half of the twentieth century. That he went ahead and turned it into a series is fine, but the rest weren't nearly as good (the low point being when he wrote himself into his own story - NOT META) but that didn't stop me from reading them. However, it did affect the way that critics see The Gunslinger and sadly it will probably not get the credit it deserves.

So, I think that the difference between an exceptionally well written novel and a series based on that first glorious novel is the difference between a story having literary success and commercial success. I'm not saying that The Library at Mount Char can't have both, and I will read the next book you write, guaranteed, but I know you've got more ideas brewing, so please write more. Your ideas are awesome, your world-building is excellent, your characters are fascinating. But they are just a drop in the cauldron of story brewing in your mind. I want to see what else is in your mind!!!
