The first 4 Game of Thrones books (A Song of Ice and Fire) were published before the first episode on HBO aired in 2011. The first book was finished in 1996. George would have needed some incredible foresight to write those with specific actors in mind for the roles...
Yes. Especially because they were relatively obscure actors. I think this speaks to the excellent casting job done for GoT (and excellent acting, as well). I was just talking with friends last night about how the show (with a few notable exceptions) mostly NAILED all of the characters -- the characters, of course, being one of the things that made the books so so so great. They got this right in the show, and it's also one of the things that made 7 seasons of the show so so so great. But I have digressed into a GoT comment on a LOTR thread.
And for the record not all of the characters in GoT follow the books either (Most of the characters are much younger in the books for example, the violet eyes of the valyrians are gone, the youngest Lannister is fat, many more bits and pieces) just don’t make comments about books you haven’t read.....
