Amélie how do you know if its a legit publishing company

Rhonda McKnight Most traditional publishing houses require an agent for query. If you contact them and they answer you quickly and seem to want your book right away and all that, it's likely a vanity press and possibly what I'd call a scam. Traditional houses don't operate like that.

Rhonda McKnight I don't believe in using vanity presses. Anyone that you have to pay to publish your book is a vanity press. They promise the moon and the stars and deliver none of it. They usually sell your books to you at a very inflated price. That's the first bad sign. Second, look at who the publisher is publishing. Where are their author's books? How many reviews do the authors have? How much online visibility do their author's have? Look for their fruit. Google them. Look for reviews and opinions.

Rhonda McKnight In my opinion, an author should either seek a traditional publishing house deal or self-publish their own book. I don't like any of the scenarios in the middle. I do coaching. I can assist you more through the services I offer on my website if you have more questions on how to get started.
