I listened to the audio too and I thought it was brilliant and funny and entertaining as hell. I don't suffer from any mental illness issues, but I've said it's one of the best books I've read (listened to) in a long time.
How I wish this were true for me. I wanted an audiobook for the commute and thought this would be great. Sadly, I found her delivery to just be too much for me and became annoyed by her delivery more than the material. I'm going to come back to this in a written version to see if I can get her voice out of my head and actually enjoy what she's written.
Everyone is different. I remember listening to an audio of Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella. People, who actually read the book, gave it low reviews. However, people who listened to the audio absolutely loved it. I found that interesting. FYI: If I had actually read Furiously Happy, I might not have enjoyed it as much. I preferred the audio and recommend it that way. Hope it gets better for you! =)
