Plus there was Mori's reaction to Grace and anything else that could cause Thaniel to leave, which sounded a lot like jealousy and fear of abandonment and makes it feel a lot less like theyre just friends.
I just finished and I read it VERY fast, so this is all new thinking, but I was wondering if the idea was that Mori was about beauty and the unexplainable, and Grace was all about science. It was interesting how her desire to be her own person wasn't a major theme or one that was sympathetically treated, really.
