Nothing Very Bad Could Happen to You There...I over how you love your characters. I'm a middle school English teacher and I speak to my kids about this all the time. They will ask me about "my friends" and tell me about theirs. It is pure delight.
With our public schools constantly pushing ABOUT CORE CURRICULUM, standardized testing (Pearson) and the NCTE, I can feel disheartened...but, then I remind myself where true love of English comes from, and the awesome fact that "readers make better writers" and I tell my kids to pick up their "indie books" and enjoy their "friends".....

I am anxiously waiting to read The Guest Room and all these questions, and they're answers, whetting my appetite. :-)
