This is the question that is bugging me too. When he went and saw Dolly (Vivien) on the beach, it was right after her wedding - so more than 8 years before he went to Green Acres and saw Laurel and the photo. And if he only saw them at a distance, how could he have known/thought it was Dolly?
I'm confused by that as well. I thought he saw them a few days after their wedding and that was that - but at that time did he not know it was Vivien? Seems unlikely. Or was that a figment of Vivien's imagination and was the only time he came when he went to the house?
He didn’t see the people on the beach at the same time as he visited Greenacres. The beach occasion was much earlier. He didn’t know that Vivian had survived until he came to the house at Coronation time and saw the picture of her in her wedding photo with Stephen. He then sent the thank you card after that.
