They are. I've read a couple of his now. I like them but they go nowhere.
I rarely reread a book, but I will read The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles again one day. I am going to read another one his, and will continue as long as they continue to be bfull of quirky characters, and in the end, I do not care what it was about. With a book like this, I often miss the characters and think about them for years. While I do know fact form fiction, I sometimes prefer the written character who can really do me no harm in reality. I'm not all that strange though.
