But you are thinking for Eilis! She -- at least in the book -- does not go through these thoughts. Instead, she is, as always, reacting to circumstances. She finally takes action to go back to Brooklyn not because of all the rational reasons that you cited above, but as a reaction to the know-it-all Miss Kelly, whose words makes her tremble.
