It may not be what you're looking for, but it may just be what you need! I'm listening to The Nothing Girl on audible right now and just loving it! The book is super cute and quirky, containing more magical realism than fantasy but still a bit fantastical and very much whimsical. At the center of this story is Jenny, a quiet and sheltered girl who suffers from anxiety. Also, her closest friend is Thomas, a horse that only she can see and correspond with.
Currently reading it and absolutely love it!
The Cat's eye chronicles. A great sweeping fantasy and coming of age story that has a strong focus on friendship and camaraderie.
