Elisa Santos Thank you so much for your answer. It was a question that has been on my mind for ages.

I am portuguese and we have almost 900 years of History as an independent kingdom, and aside some very (but too few) portuguese writters, no one else seemed to have an interest in writting about ny of our historical figures and now i can understand why is it so.

Again, thank you very much for anwering me.

C.W. I personally think Portugal's history would be a wonderful subject to explore, but I do know of a few writers here who've tried to sell books about Portuguese history and been unsuccessful. It's market driven, as I said; publishers here don't think the subject has a wide enough appeal.

Elisa Santos I see what it is - Henry VIII or Elisabeth I have that recognizable identity rather than Peter, The Cruel and Inês de Castro, his lover whom he crowned Queen after her death. I see what you mean about what sells and what doesn´t. It´s a shame, though. Because i think that, at a point, the editorial markets will be saturated, if they only feed them England and France. But, it´s just my humble opinion.

C.W. I agree. I do think the markets are saturated. Wish we as authors had more influence.

Elisa Santos I would wish it too.
