Thank you so much, and I'm sorry that you had to answer this question twice - I didn't see the first Q/A until after I'd asked it, thanks to the spoiler blankage.
Hah! Now a comment by Miles when he comes across Jole for the first time (I think) makes more sense. If Miles has his own consciousness somewhere outside of your brain (and if any character could/would, it'd be Miles), I think he subliminally picked up on the relationship tween his father and the aid at that point.
