That's a good point, I agree that the prime motivation wasn't revenge. But maybe it's possible too that she was attempting to portray human emotion. Like you said androids are selfish and the selfish action in that situation would be to hurt the thing Rick loved the most, instead of forgiveness which would be a selfless response. But that all presupposes that she was "hurt" by Rick or that an android could have their feelings hurt to begin with.
So my question is, does she 'get his goat',because he threatened to kill her and was dismissive of the fact that she will die in a few years, or was it because she failed to undermine his effectiveness at retiring Androids. like the Rosenburg institute intended?
You say androids have no empathy for other androids, but it is clear that Mr. Baty was very hurt by the murder of Mrs. Baty. He gives a human-like outburst of internal pain when his wife is killed, and Rick says that he knows Mr. Baty loved his wife. Surely, these blurred lines, right down to the fact that Rick starts to have a moral problem with killing what he before thought of only as machines, show that the androids are more complicated than one might expect. Rather like humans. there are a lot of humans among us who could also snip the legs off a spider or push a goat off a roof without feeling a single thing. These same sociopathic humans could really feel they love something/someone as well. The other thing to consider is the fact that these machines, who should be programmed to be content with their lives of servitude, can become discontent and kill their masters. The fact that the androids who showed up on Earth had done this very thing seems to indicate they are somehow different than the typical Nexus-6.
