I wish that you could've had Noah and his family (brother-in-laws included) embarking on the start of life-long friendships with the Alexanders and Worthingtons in TDD. Instead, you only had Harlan being a house guest at Andrews' and Astrid's estate. Isn't he a bit young for them?
So the only permanent connection between the Alexanders and Noah's family is through Noah's ex-mistress and Gareth's man of business? I was hoping for more than that. After all, neither Noah nor Gareth had started off their lives as the heirs of their titles, considering that Noah had an older uncle and Gareth had an older uncle, cousin and older brother to boot.
Doris, if I thought of sending a 17 year old kid off to the next county to visit as a house guest, I'd be a little nervous, but boys in the Regency often went up to University at 15. They were certainly lurking in ballrooms by age 17, and by the standards of the day, they were no longer boys. Harlan wasn't too young to be a house guest by the standards of the day, particularly when Noah had accompanied him on the visit, and the suggestion that Harlan stay longer came from the host and hostess.
You make a good point about Gareth and Noah having a lot in common. They would certainly have known each other, both socially and from the House of Lords. I don't think they're neighbors though--I'll have to go back and check. I know Gareth's country estate is in Surrey, and I think I put Noah in Kent. Who knows where their paths might cross in upcoming books? I think they'd get along well, too.
I thought Noah was too shy for social functions, so he may not have known Gareth at all outside of the House of Lords and on the streets :P
