May i make some suggestions?
Isabel of Aragon, she was Queen Saint Isabel, she was so much more than saint she was clever, and she convinced King D. Dinis to accept the templars and their knowledge in Portugal.
Inês de Castro, was a lady in waiting that caught the heart of D. Pedro, the prince, and he was so deeply in love that after his father, the king, killed Inês, he made her queen after death and made everyone kiss her dead hand.
D. Luísa de Gusmão, convinced her husband, (not yet king) to fight against the spanish for Portugal independence, after being 60 years under their grip.
Hope you forgive my intrusion, but to think that a writter like you could writer about Portugal is like a dream.

I'd love to do it. But to be perfectly honest, selling a historical novel set in Portugal is tough in the United States, where I have my primary publishers. It's a very competitive market and publishers tend to want big marquee characters, which is why we keep seeing so much about the Tudors. Sad, but true.

I understand, people don't realize how important Portugal was to world history, and it's a pity because it is a country with so many stories to tell.
But, anyway, thank you so much for answering me :)

I know. Tough market these days, but hopefully in the future, as I'd love to write about Portugal.
