Rebecca I also think that people of years past and today are also driven by a universal need of justice. This is why serfdom didn't last; it was unjust and unfair and people progressed as we do in our own day.

There have been brutal leaders, but in the end it is the voice and will of the people that win out, despite oppression.

There have always been rich and poor and both accepted the status quo so long as there was some means of justice to aid the oppressed and for their grievance to be heard.

Unfortunately it took centuries longer for women to be given a voice and to be heard and their opinions respected. I still find it hard to believe that in my grandmothers day she was not allowed to hold a bank account....Odd isn't it?

I think in the end, peoples need for rightful and lawful justice prevailed and still does. I think in our own day's Nelson Mandela stands out and the young girl Malala....that's just my thoughts.....

RJay Sharon, I agree with your comments except I have my doubts whether honor is still among the values of today's civilization. If it still exists, I believe it's found in fewer people and to a much lesser degree than in the MA. Sad statement, really.
