Carl Right. Let's explain recursive objects to 4th graders because adults understand them so well. Good for you Rick but the entirety of Turing's pre-WWII career as a math factotum added very little to the story of his life, setting aside the "Commutable Numbers" paper. The determinist/non-determinist dichotomy could have been explained without an upper level course in quantum mechanics, which added very little to Turing's story or his own big ideas.

Ken So, true. The reason math is not taught well in school is because the teachers teaching it don't understand it.
