Chernobyl is not a work of fiction. I've seen kids with 2 fingers on each hand and other mutations in the summer camp around 25 years ago, not 2000 years into the future. And without the culture, human matures as a feral animal, that's a scientific fact.
Dorian, we're speaking of evolution, not cataclysmic events leading to one time mutations. And, I also think you misunderstand both 'culture' and 'feral.'
Thanks, Meriska! I thoroughly enjoyed the story! And, as you say, it "only" a work of fiction ... but oh joy! What GREAT fiction! :-D I'll remember 'abbies' for a long, long time.
