I agree!!! I really wish my district would approve the book, but they "powers that be" don't really see the value of the book other than a "how to" manual which is missing the whole point.
A "how-to" manual? Haven't they read the book? Wow. Well--you could photocopy a page or two for discussion purposes and thus expose kids to the book. I am also a parent of teens and would be fine with them reading this.
I know. It's really sad. I tried to give a book to my principal to read (because I don't think she read it) and see, but she didn't even want any part of it. I hate when people make ignorant judgments about anything, but especially books that are great teaching instruments. Ugh.
