Peter Copeland Seems like tail wagging the dog. Surely the publishers are interested in what *you* want to write, which is what *we* want to read, not what *they* want to buy. ;-)

Surely authors do their best work when they are free to write where their desire takes them at the time, rather than what the publishers dictate what they *think* will sell?

I know that's not how the world works; in many walks of life it's a select few that want to tell the majority what they should be thinking - tabloids, entertainment 'news' channels, magazines, politicians, etc. (the list is endless) - but it's a sad state of affairs.

I loved the Invisible Library series (listened to it on audiobook). It would be great to return there in some form, but something new is always a treat. :)

Genevieve Cogman In this case, it's rather that there were/are several things I would like to write, or enjoy writing, and the Library was one of them. While publisher interest and willingness to pay for my writing is absolutely not the only factor, it is still definitely _a_ factor.
