It probably wasn't murder anyway. Yes, Ric was a spoiled playboy back then & didn't try to hide it, but Hudson's mom was just another fling to him...even he wouldn't kill a kid over that.
I agree with Judith’s take on this. I don’t believe that Ric had any way of knowing that Hudson was allergic to peanuts. So once it was determined that was the cause of death, there was no reason to pursue it. There is much to dislike about Ric, but he is not a murderer. I wonder if Ric ever knew what caused Hudson’s death.
