Lucym I'm pretty sure everyone here in Australia is aware that January is winter time in America considering we are bombarded with American TV and Hollywood blockbusters from the moment we enter the world.

C Benson I completely agree with you Mariam. Lucym may state that Australia is "bombarded" with American TV; however, that is not the case in the U.S.
Although, it only makes sense that the seasons would be different, it is not something that I have given much thought to before, as I am sure many people like me in the U.S. probably have not either.

Mariam Lucym, probably most do, but from 1st hand experience, I know not all. That said, the original point was that, if reversed, an Australian reader would not have assumed (had the hubris to assume) that the author / editor had to be wrong and that seasons can conceivably be so different. And I agree.
