Elanna Yes they are. At 15 I read Maupassant and I connected with the deception and cruelty of Bel Ami and decided that I would never allow that to happen to me. It shaped my personality in a very positive way, and now that I am fourty, I still remember the powerful feeling of anger and violated human justice. The problem no one talks about is that this book here is simply dull. That's something you don't want to expose teens to. Bad style. It spoils their taste, makes them like YA. Makes them stupid.
