Combined with the fact that the spanish edition had the postcard have two word, this is confirmation that those words are 'I love you'
However, that is just the interpretation of the two translators both of whom assumed that the three English words were "I love You." The interviews with the author say that she purposely left it up to the reader to fill in a hopeful message. In the translator's case their imaginations it said "I love you" and in my case it said "nothing ever ends" and guess what, according to the author, we are all correct!
In Slovene it's also 2 words, because only 2 are required to say "I love you" in ouer language. But I think that's only interpretation.
And in the Spanish version it says to short words, and I love you in Spanish is two words "te amo" so I am pretty sure
In hungarian it’s the same, it says “only one word” and “Szeretlek” is “I love you” in hungarian.
