Jane Cote Thank you! These comments are frustrating, I'm off. First and last time doing comments on goodreads. Hard to imagine people that could love great writing could be so ignorant of history that is so recent.

Muriel Areno People who were actually there are getting fewer by the day. And people who know the minutiae of the myriad Nazi organizations are fewer still. I probably know a lot of things you don't, Jane. Sheesh.

JulieAnne Yes, the National Political Institutes of Education were boarding schools for the elite BUT they were founded in 1933 by the National Socialist German Workers' Party (aka the Nazi Party) and during WWII they increasingly served as feeders into the Waffen-SS and the Wehrmacht! Also the older students wore the uniform of the Hitler Youth! Yikes!

Almudena The Nazi regime was totalitarian and at that time it had absorbed and encompassed all the German institutions, especially the elite ones.
