I looked for a comment that echoed my sentiment, and yours does. After the DT series is probably best to keep the action moving from 4-5.
I did the exact same thing. I finished book seven and I started TWTTK a few days later to return in the world of Roland. But this book should be read last since it's not part of the main story ark.
