I do have the "LoveDeath" anthology. I don't remember the story "Flashback" but I will dig it out. Frankly I thought the novel Flashback was a strange misstep for Simmons. I'm a long-time fan but I thought reading that novel was as enjoyable as someone hammering nails into my feet.

Well you have to ask yourself is that a unbiased opinion or a bigoted one.
I know from personal experience that most self described enlightened and tolerant types are the first to take offense and hate differing opinions.
So I guess the first question is do you consider yourself a Liberal.
What does this have to do with a discussion of a book? Compared to Simmons's earlier works, "Flashback" is awkward, rambling, and ill-conceived.
If the book is about a liberal dystopia and you're a liberal, Then odds are you are going to hate it.
Hopefully you can understand it. Because the human race will not evolve until we look at our own faults more then others.

I'm not the biggest fan of Flashback, But it's far from a bad book.
To hate it so, would require quite a level of preconceived bigotry expecially when any of Simmons novels are better then 90% of the Sturgeon Crap that's out there..
Which this has basically been my point all along.
Hopefully you will understand that and have a Lovely Life 2.
