hahaha yes.. BC plays evil/ cold/ uncaring SO WELL
Saint Dane's one of those villains that's so deliciously and irredeemably evil that you almost kind of want him to win. Just because he's SO bad.
Definitely someone of the Cumberbatch ilk to portray Saint Dane. The creepy voice he had down, and he does evil so very well.
The funny thing is Benedict doesn't look anything like Saint Dane in my head, and neither does any official illustration of him. He's far scarier in my head than any portrayal I've seen of him yet.
In my head Saint Dane has a very angelic presence. There's something beautiful yet disgusting about him, and being in his presence is to be completely reverant of a being with power you can't possibly imagine, while simultaneously terrified. He's one of the few fictional villains I GOT right from the beginning. My favorite part of every book is when Saint Dane gets to monologue, to question Bobby, to poke holes in Pendragon's morality.
He's so evil that I almost want him to win. Almost.
Those were my favorite scenes to write...the ones between Bobby and Saint Dane. Those scenes embodied the conflict of the entire series.
The best villains are ones who aren't evil for evil's sake. You want to be able to see their side of the conflict and maybe even somewhat agree with it. What you won't (or shouldn't) agree with are their methods.
