Thank you for answering! I had a feeling it wasn't explained but I wasn't sure if I missed the signs somewhere. I did wonder if it had to do with a lack of affection in her upbringing, but when her mother showed signs of affection, I couldn't think of any other reason why she'd hate her mom. That's what really stumped me. But your answer makes sense--it must be her upbringing and she definitely has trouble communicating with her feelings. Thanks for your insight!
