While you can read them out of order, I agree with the author on this one, because the whole series makes a better exprience when you read them in the right order. I read them as they came out, and they built on each other. Poison Study is by far the best because it is a pretty unique plot, but I'd say that the Glass series as a whole package had that extra something special.
