Stacey Kennedy Yes, I believe this could even be on a 'required reading list' for high school students. The story itself that follows the life of Louis Zamperini is very inspiring. The story is told mainly from Mr. Zamperini's perspective but there are contributions from others as well and plenty of historical facts that make it a great reference for a history class. And the writing is spectacular- Ms. Hilllenbrand did this story justice. Spectacular read. (less)

My 16 year old son just finished it. He loved it. It kept him up late at least three nights!! My 12 year old daughter is reading a young adult version. It depends on the age and temperament of the individual child.

Lynn I listened to the book and highly recommend doing so. It's a format children want to use. I am 64 and wish I would had read it at their age. I only knew bits and pieces about this war, Gives me a whole new perspective about WWII. The Japanese where as much monsters as the Natzi's.
